Pediatric Chiropractic in Winnipeg
As parents, we want our children to grow up healthy, strong, and ready to explore the world. Childhood is also a time of tumbles, growth spurts, and rapid change. At North Kildonan Family Chiropractic Centre, we recognise that a child’s developing spine and nervous system deserve the same careful attention as every other aspect of their wellbeing.
Dr. Carter often reminds families of the saying: “as bent the twig, so grows the tree.” Just as a young sapling needs proper support to grow tall and straight, your child’s spine benefits from gentle guidance during these formative years. Many adult challenges—from chronic discomfort to reduced mobility—can trace their roots back to childhood incidents that were never fully addressed.
Gentle, Age-Appropriate Techniques for Every Stage
Dr. Carter tailors his approach to each child’s age and needs. For infants and toddlers, he uses soft-touch and instrument-based methods that feel like a gentle massage. Instrument adjusting is a handheld tool that delivers light, controlled pressure to support spinal alignment without twisting or popping.
As children grow, Dr. Carter may gradually introduce more traditional manual adjusting techniques, often around ages three to four. Every child is different, and at times he may adjust a six-month-old manually if it best serves that baby’s specific situation. The focus is always comfort, safety, and what works best for your little one.
Helping Nervous Little Ones Feel Safe and Supported
New experiences can be overwhelming for children. To ease anxiety, Dr. Carter often adjusts younger children while they sit or lie on a parent’s lap, so they feel secure and close to you throughout the visit.
For kids who are still hesitant, Dr. Carter takes his time. During the first few visits, he may simply feel around their spine gently, building trust and showing them there’s nothing to fear.
Specialized Training in Pediatric Chiropractic
Dr. Carter completed a three-year postgraduate program in pediatric chiropractic through the International Chiropractors Association, earning a Diplomate in Pediatrics designation. This advanced training reflects his commitment to understanding the unique needs of growing bodies and providing appropriate, evidence-informed care.
